We follow the 70/20/10 principle, where 70% of development is from on-the-job experiences. This is complemented by interactions with others, including social learning, coaching, mentoring, and collaborative learning, which constitute 20% of development. The balance 10% is from structured learning, such as classroom training and other learning events.

We believe that employees own their learning, and we encourage an open approach in terms of what courses to take, and how and when to do them. Our role is to provide the learning tools, resources and framework needed to help staff achieve their full potential. Our people are free to choose the training they wish to pursue for their development and career path, in discussion with supervisors and HR who provide guidance. The approach is backed by a dynamic online learning portal that can be accessed anytime, anywhere and at any pace. This means staff have access to the same learning experiences, regardless of where they are.

Training is purposeful, with a systematic Quality Assurance mechanism in place. The impact of learning experiences is measured and assessed through daily work performance, keeping a focus on the tangible benefits providing to employees.

Aside from classroom training, we provide online and mobile learning, flash learning, simulation training, experiential learning, action learning projects, study missions, company tours, executive talks, conferences and other interactive and non-traditional learning options. Esquel’s management team is deeply committed to people development. Our colleagues take up the role of Professors and Deans, sharing their life experience and knowledge, providing a level of practical teaching that is often absent from more conventional training programs.
