Esquel celebrated 20th anniversary in Xinjiang

This autumn, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Esquel in Xinjiang. Esquelers of different ethnicities and background came together to celebrate this remarkable milestone with a lineup of performances and activities in Turpan and Urumqi from September 15th to 17th.

Xinjiang has played a crucial role on the upstream side of the group's supply chain. Thanks to the efforts paid by Esquelers in Xinjiang, we have made enormous accomplishments such as our accredited Extra Long Staple (ELS) cotton and conducted the world's first genome sequencing for Sea Island cotton. At the ceremony in Turpan, we honored 44 Esquelers who have been with us through thick and thin since our day one in Xinjiang. Esquelers and their families also shared their stories about growing with Esquel. At the ceremony in Urumqi, we reminisced Esquel's footprints on the heart of the silk road with singing, dancing and sand painting performances.

2016 is also the anniversary of Esquel's commitment to good causes in Xinjiang. Since the establishment of the Esquel-Y.L. Yang Education Foundation, we have helped underprivileged students with their education and life. From the Vision Screening Pogram and Summer Camp to our participation in the annual Gobi March, the Esquel-Y.L. Yang Education Foundation is committed to helping the local community in rural Xinjiang.

The 20th anniversary of Esquel in Xinjiang was truly unforgettable. We wish Esquel a continuous flourish in Xinjiang!
