Esquel Group Releases Sustainability Report 2023

On September 2, Esquel Group released its Sustainability Report 2023, showcasing accelerated progress in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and delivering meaningful impacts across the Planet, People, Product and Community.

Instead, it reflects our corporate vision of Making a Difference, while enhancing our competitiveness,” said Marjorie Yang, Chairman of Esquel Group. “While we acknowledge the difficulties in the external environment, we understand that challenges also bring opportunities. We will remain resolute in our sustainability commitments and persist in our efforts to drive positive impacts.”

Esquel Group’s sustainability framework is built on the Four Pillars of Change, with the 2023 Sustainability Report highlighting progress in each area:

  • Planet: Accelerated progress towards the 2050 Net Zero Goal

Significant strides have been made toward the 2050 Net Zero Goal, achieving a 43% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2018 baseline. Renewable energy capacity has increased to 13.2 MW, supported by 89 identified energy-saving measures and the installation of solar PV projects.

  • People: Fostering an inclusive and empowering workplace

Esquel actively participates in global initiatives, including the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)’s Target Gender Equality (TGE) Accelerator program and the “Forward Faster” initiative, pledging concrete steps for gender equality.

  • Product: Advancing innovation through R&D

As of 2023, Esquel holds over 1,800 patents, with many focusing on energy conservation, green development, labor intensity reduction, and efficiency improvement.

  • Community: Investing in Lasting Community Impact

The Y.L. Yang Foundation has been providing innovative, sustainable, physical, and mental health education, benefiting over 200,000 children in remote areas with learning opportunities.
